Jim Plumhoff is an owner/partner of the law firm of Devor & Plumhoff, LLC in Montrose, Colorado. Devor & Plumhoff is a general practice law firm dealing in water, land use, agriculture, real estate, probate, and estate planning matters. Jim spent most of his life in Virginia and grew up on a beef cattle farm. He has an undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech in Agriculture and worked in the Virginia General Assembly developing policy for agriculture and forestry prior to attending law school. Jim obtained his law degree from the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia. Jim also has an executive MBA through the University of Texas.
Jim’s law practice is mostly concentrated in the Seventh Judicial District, which includes Delta, Montrose, Ouray, San Migel, Gunnison, and Hinsdale Counties. He does spend some time in Cortez, Durango, and Grand Junction in the Twenty-Second, Sixth, and Twenty-First Judicial Districts.
He currently serves as General Counsel for the Uncompahgre Water User’s Association as well as several of smaller private irrigation companies within the Gunnison Basin and has a large contingent of farming and ranching clients.
